The Scene Around: Parokya Ni Edgar Pogi Years Old Album Launch

10/22/2016 11:51:40 AM

It was a rocking Sunday evening at the Eastwood Central Plaza in Quezon City as Universal Records Philippines staged the formal launching of Parokya Ni Edgar's first studio album in six years titled Pogi Years Old.

Fans were in for a different treat as Chiro Miranda, Dindin Moreno, Darius Semana, Gab Chee Kee and Vinci Montaneer, plus Paolo of Moonstar88 (who took over Buhawi Meneses for the meantime) has transformed Eastwood Central Plaza into a concert stage for an hour, delivering nothing but the goodies from their hits on past to present. Nikki Viola hosted the event.

They opened the show with the classic Buloy, and made Vinci enter the stage later on with Picha Pie. Also, Chito rapped the entire verses of Bagsakan, much to the delight of the audience. Midway through the set, the band performed their latest single Lagi Mong Tatandaan, slowed down with Your Song and capped everything with The Yes Yes Show and Halaga. And those songs were just part of the entire program that PNE had performed.

There was even a sudden special number of Chito singing Torete, the most-popular song by Paolo Bernaldo's band Moonstar 88.

In between songs, Parokya has made countless jokes and even giving bottles of water to some dehydrated fans.

After the gig, hundreds of fans who bought the album were in for another treat – the meet-and-greet session wherein they go their copies signed plus photo ops courtesy of their official photographers.

I guess the six-year was worth it for the fans, considering they still got it and play as if it's still the 1990s or mid-2000s.

This is actually the second time I have watched their show live. It's funny that seeing them perform their songs on stage has gave me numerous flashbacks. I guess it was also made my experience very worthwhile for me, both as a fan and a media person for the event.

Shoutouts to Grace Foronda of Universal Records Philippines and to Gabriel Diaz of Gigs Manila.
