Theater and music artist William Elvin Manzano recently launched his solo album.
On a chill Saturday night (6 June 2019) at TauMBAYAN in Kamuning, Quezon City, the singer-songwriter flaunted his tunes, a 9-track album titled Sacred/Profane/Mundane, in an intimate gathering with guests and press people.
Elvin bared the album is a collection of his musings about things involving love, life, depression, anxiety, sex, sexuality, art, and even death. It has been two years in the making, from recording the songs inside houses and makeshift studios; together with the help of his musician friends in Hong Kong, his home for five years; and songs that draw inspiration from legendary names such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, and Ben Folds.
Sacred/Profane/Mundane include the original version of Ang Sabi Nila, one of the songs from the hit musical Mula Sa Buwan, which was recorded in 2009 – even way before the musical took place.
The album is his first record in six years – or since releasing his debut The Musicalienation of William Elvin in 2013, which was then hailed as “brilliant” and “soulful, propulsively melodic” by the Philippine Daily Inquirer and “theatrical but authentic” by ABS-CBN News.
Following the success of the album launch, William Elvin is set to do a special night alongside Roger Alcantara, Rigil Borromeo, Dana Marquez, and Satur Tiamson, as he launches Sacred/Profane/Mundane at the Black Box Theater of the PARC Foundation located at 494 Lt.
