PlayBack: Parokya Ni Edgar - Lagi Mong Tatandaan (Music Video)

11/08/2016 11:02:30 AM

When was the last time you have heard a very serious love song from Parokya Ni Edgar? As in from the theme itself to the tone of songwriting in such a rocking manner that a lot of us had been fond with?

Maybe the late 90s hit Halaga was considered as one. Your Song was light and good for the heart – and more poetic as it seems (English eh!). And Gitara is the second coming of Harana – but with more funny-yet-realistic approach.

PlayBack: Nanay Mo - Absent Mind (Music Video)

10/26/2016 02:25:47 PM

It sucks that I am not a fan of this band called Nanay Mo. But certainly this music video gives me some ideas and reasons to be part of the cult.

The Scene Around: ESGS 2016 Day 3

11/09/2016 01:55:12 PM

Last weekend of October was one of the most busiest weekends I have ever had since being a blogger. Imagine being a part of one of the major media partners during the 2016 edition of one of the biggest gaming convention in Southeast Asia, a three-day event called E-Sports and Gaming Summit held 28-30 October 2016 at the SMX Convention Center in the Mall of Asia complex, Pasay City.

Curtain Call: Rom.com

11/26/2016 03:26:39 PM

Just when I thought na I have seen a lot enough para sa natatanging produksyon ng Dalanghita Productions na pinamagatang Tatlong Linggong Pag-Ibig, mali pala ako.

Curtain Call: Corazon Negro

11/25/2016 08:30:26 PM

Curtain Call: Mula Sa Kulimliman

11/25/2016 08:00:50 PM

Curtain Call: Isanlibong Taon

11/25/2016 07:29:59 PM

Curtain Call: Malapit Man, Malayo Rin

11/25/2016 06:56:06 PM

The Scene Around: ESGS 2016 Day 2

11/09/2016 11:21:19 AM

Last weekend of October was one of the most busiest weekends I have ever had since being a blogger. Imagine being a part of one of the major media partners during the 2016 edition of one of the biggest gaming convention in Southeast Asia, a three-day event called E-Sports and Gaming Summit held 28-30 October 2016 at the SMX Convention Center in the Mall of Asia complex, Pasay City.

The Scene Around: Docdef 1??

10/25/2016 03:14:35 AM

Seems since In D' Flow, Docdef Productions has seemingly lost count of their number of gigs slated, eh? No wonder they have put up the 1?? a  la slot machine. But without pun intended, it was a last ditch decision on my end to swing by Route 196 after storming by Black Kings Bar for the Monster Indie Ground tour.

The Scene Around: Kabuhayan Expo 2016

11/15/2016 02:43:33 AM

For the 15th time, the Congressional Spouses Foundation Incorporated (CSFI) has set the Kabuhayan National Livelihood and Travel Expo 2016 held at the Megahall Trade 1 of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City during 10-13 November 2016.

PlayBack: Anj Florendo – You Are Here (Album)

09/20/2016 02:54:57 PM

Anj Florendo seemingly took what she really wanted on her music – that is to make more #hugot-driven music through alternative ballads. And it looked like a new chapter of her book with those pieces of art.

PlayBack: Anj Florendo – Undress (EP)

09/20/2016 01:28:30 PM

When this lady performed during a random Docdef gig a year ago, there's something beneath her words and music that makes it as special as it is. Well, frankly, every craft has its unique essence at their own right; but Anj Florendo's songs comprised of various angst and drive of emotions – something most of us know by now as hugot with the hashtag. Be it in melody or in lyrical form.

The Scene Around: Erotika Night 3

10/06/2016 08:12:26 PM

I was running bit late from the horrendous traffic from Mandaluyong all the way at Makati to catch up with We Are The Underdogs as they slate their third edition of a barely-mature evening full of sexy tunes (and musicians too), and medyo R-18 everything in between (that includes green tito jokes).

The Scene Around: Route 196 10th Anniversary

10/24/2016 01:45:48 AM

Route 196, the Metro Manila north side's favorite live music place, celebrated their 10th anniversary last Saturday, 22 October 2016, the massive way!

While some of the early attendants were in for a treat (that includes yours truly, by the way), the show kicked off at 9:30 PM with Lions and Acrobats. Next came the crowd darlings Jensen and The Flips. And I think it wasn't really a bad set despite some technical difficulties surrounding them.

Patawad

11/14/2016 03:23:44 PM

This is something I wrote a few minutes after I had a recent heartbreak. Well, just to be clear, I didn't mean to pull off a Taylor Swift here, especially when I had a liter of beer already in my system.

O patawad,
Pasensiya na.

The Scene Around: Red Ninja Productions Birthday Bash

10/06/2016 08:39:51 PM

It was like 3D all over again at Route 196 as Nicole of Red Ninja Productions celebrated her birthday last 27 July 2016 at Route 196 in Quezon City.

PlayBack: At The Moment - Home (Music Video)

11/06/2016 10:24:50 PM

Barely three months might have been longer than the usual to see a music video finally got some online exposure to the public, especially at the instant gratification-driven generation of people wherein they missed the live viewing party and resort to online streaming.

But I think it was worth the wait if you're a fan of this indie garage band called At The Moment. And more evidently, their craft changed drastically. The last time I knew, their single Home was a medium-to-fast paced track. Now, it gone slower, with their first line somewhat earning a recall that only their cult followers could impersonate the most than vocalist Vince Agcaoili. ("WHAT YOU GOOOOOOTTTT, GIIIIIIIRRRRRL?")

Upcoming: Tatlong Linggong Pag-ibig

11/12/2016 11:12:50 AM

Dalanghita Productions will stage a series of plays that will surely make you reminisce all those first-time experiences you had for love – be it date, kiss, quarrel, heartbreak, or heck even *toot* (whichever that word really means), and it's set to grace starting this weekend!

The Scene Around: Kings Of The North

10/06/2016 07:35:07 PM

We Are The Underdogs Productions has stormed up North as they staged their WAT UP MIX #4 gig called Kings of The North at Exile on Main Street in Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

Thursday, November 10, 2016

PlayBack: Oh, Flamingo! (EP)

09/20/2016 03:50:10 PM

Oh, Flamingo as been one of the young and exciting bands we have in the scene right now. And their participation at the Wanderland isn't just a solid proof to answer those why questions; their EP is another.

PlayBack: Ninno - TCK

11/09/2016 09:50:18 AM

I have seen this kid a year ago, at the 2015 Fete dela Musiquie indie stage. Along with Curtismith, this guy really sounded new to me as the last time I checked myself I was digging some other dope locals like One3D, Plazma, Skarm, and Cameltoe.

The Scene Around: Eurythmic

10/11/2016 06:07:36 PM

Docdef Productions staged their monthly gig at Route 196 in Quezon City; and it promised to be a heck of a Friday night to, at least, remember this September. This time, it was called Eurythmic.

Curtain Call: Boy by Anna Ziegler

11/08/2016 10:27:31 PM

Tanghalang Ateneo opened their 38th season titled De/Constructing Narratives with a bang as they staged the first international premiere of a thought-provoking Boy by Anna Ziegler.

The Rundown Slam: WWE Hell In A Cell 2016

11/08/2016 04:59:44 PM

We got triple main event matches that make this RAW-exclusive PPV as historically big as it gets. And why not? They were staging the 2016 edition of WWE's Hell In A Cell at the epic TD Garden in Boston, the place where the dominating Boston Celtics lives on.

But is it really epic or just plain dragging, considering the entire program lasted for five freaking hours; almost equalizing SummerSlam for that matter. They had an hour for the pre-show, 3 hours and 16 minutes for the main program and around 43 minutes for the fallout-like RAW Talk. While the programming has been making drastic changes (thanks to the WWE Network), five hours of wrestling in a Sunday can be really dragging, unless it's WrestleMania time.

Anyway, let's just slam the rundown, shall we?

PlayBack: An Honest Mistake - We're Alright

10/07/2016 12:39:55 AM

One of my friends from the synth pop known as Paranoid City tipped me into this. This is one of their friends they met in that big event held at Cebu City a few years ago. And later on, they were doing gigs both on the countries Malaysia, Philippines and even South Korea – in the recently Zandari Festa.

An Honest Mistake is a punk rock band from Malaysia. And they were rocking their homeland since 2008. But it was only this year when they released a single under major label Universal Music Malaysia.

Flick Review: Baka Siguro Yata

10/07/2016 01:18:44 AM

Baka Siguro Yata is one of the first films I have seen here at Cinema '76. This 2015 Cinema One Original entry featured one of the best comedy flicks fit enough for family viewing. Talk about depicting love in multiple and more than romantical aspects, somewhat we might have seen in some of the mainstream rom-com movies.

The Scene Around: Parokya Ni Edgar Pogi Years Old Album Launch

10/22/2016 11:51:40 AM

It was a rocking Sunday evening at the Eastwood Central Plaza in Quezon City as Universal Records Philippines staged the formal launching of Parokya Ni Edgar's first studio album in six years titled Pogi Years Old.

PlayBack: Daft Punk - Random Access Memories (album)

10/10/2016 11:56:54 PM

Perhaps, it's no surprise why the French duo Daft Punk has been making exceptionally-good music since the 90s. The album Random Access Memories proved to be a living testament to it.

Flick Review: Ma'Rosa

10/07/2016 01:32:24 AM

I admit. I wasn't really a fan of the renowned director Brillante Mendoza nor have seen some of his works in reel form (unless you count the State of the Nation Address as one).
