It's no secret that there are bands that sounded better when they are playing live than hearing through their own canned product, and one of this so-called half-fortunate/half-unfortuante bunch is the pop band known as Rob & The Hitmen.
The quartet has produced a four-track EP as a starter pack to being another band producing swabecore music. And somehow, it helped that they made it to the airwaves of Monster RX 93.1's IndieGround, a program catering to the batch of young and up-and-coming musicians in the locality and country.
Don't get me wrong: Illusions EP has been a promise, but it can leave a mixed reaction-slash-curiousity-driven impession, like how such band can write good songs but their recorded stuff isn't even close to perfection? To which I will answer: my friend, you should check them out live and you will be mind-blown in no time.
Seriously. While Burn To Ashes and Illusions sound identical to their gig performances, One Night Boogie and So Right were a-bit distant different but has been less essential to hear on record. Probably because of their poised as a soul-rnb thingy that has made the drum beats sounded like those old beat-driven rnb song. If they have that on purpose, well, they profess to that route.
All in all, Rob & The Hitmen's debut EP has stamp their name as one of the soul-pop rock guys today. Swabecore has taken a next phase, whether you like it or not.
