This coming Thursday night
will be a big one for the art scene in Laguna as Asshulz, Magpies, and UPLB Communicators' Association are bringing you Zine Orgy 666.
Initially known as the sixth edition of the Zine Orgy, the event aims to reintroduce zines as a free space to discuss the marginal topics deemed taboo or irrelevant. Also, the event is set to tackle the institutions that establish the standards by which these topics are judged unworthy of consideration.
But apart from the discussions, Zine Orgy is more known as a biannual expo where independent publishers, small presses and artists in Laguna can exhibit, sell, and talk about their works with the art community. And that said, this one night only extravaganza will have its Artists' Market that is comprised of 30 art collectives, organizations, and artists including Electromilk,
Makô,
The
Cabinet,
and others.
Also, taking place during the evening are musical performances from the likes of Bobby's Wonderland, Cold Summer, Happy Hormones, Saint Tapsi, Thea & Job, and Yohi. Film screenings of works by Epoy Deyto, Aaron Goodman & Luis Liwanag and Gayle Fernandez-Lai are scheduled as well.
Orgy Zine 66 will be held on Thursday, 17 May 2018, 7PM-12AM at 77 Grove Events Place, Los Baños, Laguna. Entrance is priced at only 10 pesos, which comes with a free accordion zine explaining the theme "666." Check out the guide to get to Los Baños here.
