The Scene Around: Docdef at The Forage

04/09/2017 05:42:22 PM

Tracing the roots from the North and Eastern side of the Metro, it seems DocDef Prductions has found a new home in the name of The Forage Kitchen and Bar in Marikina City. Well, that's aside from that intimate rooftop cafe nearby Marcos Highway.

The gig outfit behind Tagaytay Art Beat has their usual-Thursday night outing at the newly-minted bar that is located just next to the Truck Food Park. Yours truly managed to drop by the venue during that fateful March evening after witnessing one of my close buddies will be playing (of course, always a supporter!) that evening.

And in fairness, aside from Shelley Pasaba whom I quite lost in touch for a long time, Jemuel Abalos and Earl Generao dished a mix of covers and originals that somewhat makes up for a chill, Thursday night. And frankly, I heard this female youngster for quite a few times since last year, but I still have to (say) re-listen.

However, hearing my good friend Japo Anareta (8-Bit of Paranoid City and Robot Jaworski of Tanya Markova) somewhat spelled the difference between the other performers. I just don't know if the age/experience served as a factor right there. While it's obvious that Anareta lashed some of his renditions from the tracks that spawned popularity during childhood, the keyboardist had been anchoring the few-numbered crowd with his entertaining antics, too.

It seems to be that Forage will be Docdef's first showcase area (like a training ground) for the newcomers and it's understandable. That way, it could formulate their way to evolve in their careers soon – and at the same time, lure more people to get into the East's newest hangout place.
