The Scene Around: ESGS 2016 Day 3

11/09/2016 01:55:12 PM

Last weekend of October was one of the most busiest weekends I have ever had since being a blogger. Imagine being a part of one of the major media partners during the 2016 edition of one of the biggest gaming convention in Southeast Asia, a three-day event called E-Sports and Gaming Summit held 28-30 October 2016 at the SMX Convention Center in the Mall of Asia complex, Pasay City.

The final day might appear to be just on a chilldown note, but not that really. The event was still packed and even interesting to drop by, especially if you are a fan of Bloodstain and Castlevania. While one of the present God's gift to awesome gaming world was ESGS, a lot of press people, including Reimaru Files, interviewed him.

Also, the young Tekken wonderkid was in the house. Literally, the prodigal son of the country's gaming scene right now, Alexandre Laverez stopped by with his father and was interviewed by the press. Well one holding room was quite tough to handle interviews since there wasn't a sound system, but things still go well and that could be another thing to look forward to come the succeeding editions.

In addition, the cosplay competition was still one of the highlights of Day 3, with 14 cosplayers competing this time around. Also, the NBA 2k17 tournament reached its final and it turned into a mini-version of those basketball arenas as fans inside the ESGS halls were in for a thriller. And literally, it happened – just when I thought it was only for the ball game itself, there was a buzzer-beating champion, the same way as how Justin Brownlee capped Ginebra's kangkong-to-champions tour.

While majority of the ESGS stalls were packed to the hallways, it is kinda sad that some of the minor ones weren't really been flocked by many. Well, we all got to be hopeful that sooner or later, a lot of attendants will be interested on what the local and international independent game developers have to offer.

Overall, ESGS 2016 in the eyes of a gaming event rookie, wasn't really perfect on execution but was steadily solid. And it's an honor to be part of Reimaru Files to cover the event for the entire weekend.

That being said, shoutouts to Chad and Ana of RF for the opportunity. Also to one of the men I had been dealing with for quite sometime, Earl TheFanboySEO, Jay, and Rayan of Anime Pilipinas, as well as meeting the new ones such as Migs, the hosts Bossmac of Back2Gaming and Carlos.
