The Scene Around: Tanya Markova at 70s Bistro

06/23/2016 04:05:13 PM

It was a good night to end a good month as Tanya Markova capped May 2016 with a bang in a gig held at 70s Bistro at Anonas, Quezon City.

BennyBunnyBand kicked off the evening with their usual kuneho rock sets that might have gone a bit of rated SPG (on the lyrics of ForHidden Song #1) in the eyes of a kid watching there (Hahahaha!).

The next band is something I have heard for the first time. Eevee, hailed from Davao City, is an alternative band that could produce music familiar to everyone. Certainly with their tunes, they can fit into the both worlds of artistic and novelty.

And there goes the shock pop band itself. It was the third time I heard them live, but this looked more special. Not just because they organized the gig and of the venue rep alone (it's 70s Bistro, baby! One of the popular nightspots to head live music in the metro!), but because it's the fact that you got to hear Tanya Markova, up close and personal! Hearing them belt the mixture of old and new tunes could make you reminisce their days when they hit mainstream and how they still fare up at the present with Mister Tililing.

No wonder why this band is on the roll since they launched their second album – their first after six years. They were solid as rock and keep their cult followers with their unique sound blended well with humor breaks in between. That being said, we could hope for more good vibes-music to come from this octet.
