Whos' Who?: Grace Poe

05/04/2016 08:01:56 PM
Grace Poe. She may be the "purest" among this year's pool of presidential aspirants. She relies on her campaign that looked more emotional affectionate to the poor. Gobyernong May Puso as she always reiterates.

She may be also one of the youngest and smart-talkers; her performance in the PiliPinas Debates 2016 proved she could handle the conversation very well, without sounding robotically poetic unlike her running mate.

Poe was also notably responsible for the “intelligent viewing” of the Movie and Television Rating and Classification Board (MTRCB) and enforcing the new rating system for every program airing at media.

At the Senate, Poe has filed bills that aimed for the children and tourism. She is also pushing for the decade-long pending Freedom of Information Bill.

But issues circulating her citizenship and the way she answered those crisis-related issues made her look like an incompetent candidate (or if competent, wasn't quite enough). If on debates, she has been articulate and fluent, could she handle the mud-slinging world of politics the same way, and came up with lesser dirt when it comes to dealing with public?

Plus, theoriests would even bare her allegiance to the oligarchs such as Danding Cojuangco as another flaw, wherein talks about her participation (and protection) for the coco levy fund and even the abrupt plan of Telstra. On hindsight, that would sound like a poor man's Cory Aquino with more political experience.

Citizenship queries about Poe doesn't stop right there as critics also questioned the American citizenship of her husband; something she categorically denied during the Presidential Town Hall debate.

Prior to that disqualification case about Poe has raised dramatic stocks.

The question: is Poe really for the people like her father's '04 objective? Is she not a puppet of the oligarch? Could a mother like her have the capability to stand up for the (patriarchal) society like the Philippines? Could her “matalinong panonood” level up to become nation of intellectuals, rather than stupid majority?

That remains to be seen.
