Upcoming: The Gray Ground

Talk about convergence of music and theater, as a rock opera—plus the launching of an album—will be staged this May at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati.

Dubbed as The Grey Ground, the theater play stars Blake Jones, Pia Murphy, and featuring the music of the Filipino post-punk rock band The Black Vomits. It also feature actors from De La Salle College of St. Benilde School of Design and Arts, DJ Mia Ayesa, and performers from Ballet Philippines with stage design by Marco Ortiga and The Working Animals.

Along the evening, The Black Vomits—comprised of Julius Sanvictores (drums), Joyen Santos (vocals), Bryan Escueta (guitar), and Igan D'Bayan (bass)—will be launching their self-titled debut album on vinyl. The band also said the play they will also serve as their love letter to the rock opera and concept album, with a compelling story that exhibits a metaphoric struggle from both angles: the band (in real life) and in screenplay (story of a writer named John).

On top of that, the band talked to press and held a sneak preview of their album at The Bro's Mustache in South Triangle, Quezon City.
