StopOver: Angono Lakeside Park

4/21/2016 10:17:11 PM

Sometimes, you don’t have to go a hundred or thousand miles away from Manila to see places which are truly beautiful and worth the effort. All you need is to traverse the roads at the nearby provinces, look around, and when you get there, simply appreciate them.

Such as this case when yours truly along with my partner Maxim, stormed by the near-eastern side of Rizal province and witness the beauty of Laguna de Bay at the Lakeside Park.

Located at Brgy. Wawa, the lakeside park offers the best of both worlds -- seeing the mountains beside Laguna de Bay at one side, and the skyscrapers of Metropolitan Manila on another. Plus fishing is one of the major spots right there. You will see fisher-folks with their rods either standing at the shore or riding the boat.

Speaking of boats, there are passenger rides for their sight-pleasuring reason or another.

Heck, in the afternoons, this recreation park is even crowded. You talk about renting bikes, eating meryenda, kids playing around, and mind you: there’s also a zip line there.

And this also serves as an alternate venue if you wanna see the sunset. Well, if you don’t like the grueling ride to Manila Bay. Plus it will not hurt your wallet.

This Lakeside Park is just one of the tourist spots you can enjoy around Angono Rizal, the proclaimed Art Capital of the Philippines. Proving this land is not just about giants (higantes), galleries, or even food. This place was actually part of the municipality government’s efforts for developing natural waste water and treatment system as well as for the rehabilitation of the river. There was even a talk for the venue being part of the Ferry Service Project.**

Now that’s definitely one of the coolest places I have ever been.
