Did anyone see it coming? Unless you are rooting for the underdog, yes.
But you can’t blame everything. That’s how the sport rolls. One time you’re on top; the next time around somebody will make an upset—over you.
The question: Has Ronda Rousey gone over-complacent during her fight with Holly Holm?
Perhaps, as it seems on their weigh-in. But other than that, the challenger’s shove might actually trigger a premonition (as well as “beast mode” for Rowdy); and during Joe’s brief Q and A with Ronda, something on her tone says something. Not exactly if she looks scared or something right there.
Barely20 minutes before BALLS aired their coverage on UFC 193, the world already exploded with her name became a household name on Twitter for quite some time. Is there any shocking factor here: Definitely, yes.
In case you missed yesterday’s championship game, here’s the thing: a superkick to the neck might have choked Rousey. And prior to the 59-second KO, it’s quite obvious that RR was not on her top game as the first round went into the close.
And when was the last time we have seen a massive upset in the world of sports? There were a lot, but when? When Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker on WrestleMania 30 (thus, breaking the what-has-been-an-mythically-unbreakable “streak”) last April 2014? When Juan Manuel Marquez’s punch sent Manny Pacquiao on his shoulder and down to the canvas last December 2012? Or even… when Dallas Mavericks sent a shockwave to Miami Heat in June 2011—as well as the eight-seeded Golden State Warriors against (ironically) the Mavs on the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs?
There are lots of stories in the unpredictable world of sports.
I guess the number 7 was not a lucky one for the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion? And so was granting win #13 in the same number of MMA contest.
Now, what’s next after the loss? Expect the buzz of humiliation from the social media. Does she want a rematch for her previously-coveted title? Is she moving on to anything else (be it on MMA, acting or even plans on becoming WWE Diva)?
Perhaps the only way to find out is thru following the tales of events from here.
As for Holm, she will be now known as the first woman to dethrone the so-called world's most dominating athlete at present (Sorry Brock and err, even, Floyd!).
