The Scene Around: FlipTop Second Sight III

4/11/2015 12:07:15 PM

It’s like five years in the making. I only managed to see them through the videos at YouTube. And even if I had plans to watch them live in the past, unfortunately it didn’t go through.

Not until the 13th of March, though; as yours truly strolled by Makati and found myself watching for the first time—an event by the FlipTop rap battle league called Second Sight III at B-Side in The Collective, Malugay Street, Makati City. Just in front of the Makati City Police District and a bearable walking distance from the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Buendia Station.

People start to flock the doors as early as 8 PM, but B-Side was accessible by around 9:45PM. And a lot of MCs participating in the event was late; so the show started for already around 10:45 or 11 PM.

Above photo (by the way, this is just a still and not a snapshot) shows Anygma announcing their strict implementation on security which is good. Yes, banning of the documentation—especially the video manner—is really a good thing not juts for FT, but for their audience as well. It's like once your raise the camera a bit high could really cost your night.

Seven cards at set—with almost half of them intended for Isabuhay Torunament.

Well, the sets were more entertaining as it seems. Some of merchandises were also at the venue such as RAW, Bomb Shelter, and even Music Colony (which, by the way, released Zaito’s new album titled Ganti Ng Patay).

Well, the Sak Maestro versus Fongger match was called off after the latter did not made it at the event; thus, the former advances to the next round of the Isabuhay Tournament to face Dello. However, Zaito volunteered to put up a special stipulated fight for entertainment’s sake (yes, it is a promo battle).

FlipTop’s Second Sight III ended around 3:15 in the morning. Here are the results:

And even if you argue watching the fights in video is more intellectual approach strategy-wise speaking, but you can never deny the live viewing experience was an exceptionally-good as shit.
