Yay or Nay? The Shockers, Stunners, and Suckers of 2014 (Part 3)

1/6/2015 8:25:23 AM

I managed to write the first two parts of this series previously known as the Yay or Nay? The Shockers of 2014. But again, since almost every single news item (if not all) brought uop our level of consciousness, I decide to rename the entire thing as the Shoclers, Stunner and Suckers of 2014. Stun and Shock may be synonymous to each other but I really meant ‘shock’ in general and ‘stun’ on the positive limelight here.

We were stunned by the outcome of all the things which are considered positive in our eyes simply beacuse it brought nothing but good vibes and uplifted out spirits, at least, for a while.

But on the flipside, there are some controversial issues which should have not been brought to circulation in the first place. But still, we ended up wasting our time, effort to think, kinetic energy and even saliva simply because we are bored.

Anyway, here are the continuation of the other shockers, stunners and suckers of the the year that was... yes, 2014!

Weed While They’re Young?! | 1/2/2015 3:16:07 PM

When the youth is waste don the young, as the old saying goes. However, is this news already new enough, such as these two members of the popular pop music band One Direction?

They were caught on video using a prohibited drug, and the clip spawned mixed reactions around the world like a wildfire.

Well again, is this kind of news sounds new to the circulation? Not anymore to be honest, since a lot of celebrities, popular or not, have been the issue since time immemorial. Do we have to mention names here?

At the end of the day, it all boils down to this: taste, with much emphasis on influence. On how we elders should learn to understand our younger people’s choice for music, and at the same time let them know what is good and what is obviously bad.

Surprising Standout | 1/2/2015 3:23:00 PM

It’s such surprising that the NBA Finals MVP winner came from an uprising player instead from coming from any of the veterans of that champion squad San Antonio Spurs.

Kawhi Leonard had a Cinderella-like story to take the trophy from the likes of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, two players who garnered the accolade during the Spurs’ championship run in the past. Moreover, Leonard’s participation—with much focus on defending 4-time NBA regular season MVP LeBron James—became an evitable factor on why the Spurs won their fifth NBA title in just five games.

In the season where both Kobe Bryant and Derrick Rose were expect to make a huge return (but did not happen due to their nagging injuries), and the Oklahoma City Thunder was the favoured one to beat the then three-peat seeking Miami Heat, the Spurs proved despite the age, they can never be denied to win the big one.

Racist Firing | 1/2/2015 3:42:58 PM

In case you’re marking out on Mexican grappler named Alberto del Rio, you wondered last August: why he’d go out of the pro wrestling scene?

Now known as El Patron in the popular Mexican sporting league AAA, Del Rio, or known Alberto Rodriguez in real life, was fired by the WWE after scuffling the promotion’s social media manager Cody Barbierri backstage. And what’s the main culprit: A piece of racist joke against Hispanics like Del Rio.

It’s sad to know that the popular wrestler’s been fired just because of somebody’s power-tripping. How crap was that, right? In fact, the issue remains underground and hasn’t received much attention. Could that thing reached the expected level, I’m pretty sure a lot of people will turn their backs on Vince McMahon’s prized firm albeit not totally.

The Racist Owner | 1/2/2015 3:43:14 PM

Speaking of racism, how about a recording which triggered Donald Sterling’s ousting from the NBA and his owned team the Los Angeles Clippers?

A 10-minute long audio clip of Sterling and his estranged girlfriend on TMZ became a hot seller during the NBA playoffs, resulting into a massive protest by the league against the 83-year old owner, and moreover, his firing from both his squad and the league’s board of governors.

Sterling’s departure triggered the league to sell LAC to the former Microsoft executive Steve Ballmer.

Unlike WWE’s case, NBA showed condemnation against racism. They proved they are not showing any toleration on such issue.

Well, Sterling has expressed his apology though damage has been done, and looks like he even committed more crime than just speaking harsh words against another race: and that–is having an affair out of wedlock.

Pipebomb Off The Canvas | 1/2/2015 3:57:47 PM

Just over ten months after he left the WWE, CM Punk threw a series of pipe bombs against the popular sports entertainment firm.

In the two-hour episode from the Art of Wrestling podcast hosted by former star athlete Colt Cobana, the former WWE champ lashed fiery statements against the company for its health and wellness issue, as well as the prospect storylines for him.

On the other hand, though, Vince McMahon spoke to Steve Austin in an hour exclusive podcast program aired on the WWE Network, staying that is CM Punk’s opinion and he respects it.

The thing is CM Punk appeared he suffered a burnout in regards to his performance and the breaks he hasn’t received much unlike other stars which has been getting less deserved push. This just proves how dangerous a wrestler’s job, despite receiving series of bashers (claiming it’s fake per se). They really take huge risks when it comes to their well-being. But on the next item…
