Upcoming: Lupin the Third – The Philippine Movie Premiere

9/7/2014 8:48:25 PM

I was a fan of this Anime series. Yes, and during my childhood era, it usually aired after the newscast on GMA-7 instead of those telenovelas. Maybe it was because primetime for teens and even kids to have some entertainment.

Until I saw this on SM Cinema’s Facebook page last August.

Yes, Lupin the Third, the Monkey Punch-created 14 volume series you once witnessed in Manga (Japanese term for comics) starting 1967 to 1969, and on animated television series starting 1989 is now on the live action movie scene.

Talk about thecharacter-inspired from Maurice LeBlanc’s Frenchman thief Arsene Lupin III, eh? Alongside right man Diasuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa XIII, and Fujiko Mine, Lupin would take on a secured fortress safe named “Ark of Navone” for its mission—to claim the “Crimson Heart of Cleopatra.”

Shun Ougri reprised the title role, alongside Tetsuji Tamayama (Jigen), Go Ayano (Goemon), Meisa Kuroki (Fujiko), as well as other characters led by Tadanou Asano as the always-funny-yet-always-failing Detective Koichi Zenegata.

Also, fomer F4 member (you should know this if you’re a hardcore Meteor Garden patron) Jerry Yan  was in the cast as Michael Lee.

The film was reportedly shot in four other countries outside Japan: Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand over the course of two months, and after four years in the pre-developing stages.

Lupin the Third was shown already in Japan by August 30; and on the Philippines, schedule is set on September 17.

Okay, now listen folks: this should better be awesome.  Sorry for being a fanboy at this point.

  3. Seriously torn if I'm going to see this in the movies or not. Wasn't able to read the comics but the anime was great!

  4. I'm not a fan of this kind, but I will recommend to my kids. You know, I'm reading fiction stories, but with different genre.
