Flick Review: Catching Fire

11/26/2013 3:19:34 AM

They say it was the most awaiting movie for this year. Well, like any other film that has been welcomed very warmly, and those that are widely criticized either.

And maybe a true-to-that statement to back that up was the fact that The Hunger Games’ second instalment was raking up high on sales. Unless, some other flick from the upand coming films (starting November 27) can overtake them.

But what do Catching Fire have, an edge to out-edge every other best film flick like Iron Man, Les Miserable, Life of Pi, Man of Steel, Despicable Me 2, and even Fast 6?

Well, so the story continues for Katniss and Peeta: their on-screen romantic warrior tandem; her personal reputation from being an aspiring warrior into a public figure, and the quest for the 75th Hunger Games. Well, I won’t do the spoiler’s part.

However, if you insist on how this film fared up on me, I can only tell you a few words: it can be quite over-hyped sometimes.

Screenplay-wise, they may be good in such. Though I have to admit, some action scenes seemed to be portrayed much, much better. The direction of this flick is quite smooth to complement it.

And if you ask me on which flick is better, I can only refer you to the people whom managed to seen both sequels. Well, I has yet to see the first film.

But if there’s one thing that I do appreciate on this movie – it is what Katnis’ character was all about. Despite being branded the “girl on fire,” she is still human after all. She gets emotional, and that is something that triggered her anger and drive for courage to conquer this quest. What she did on the last scene inside the arena was so sic, err, sick. That’s really a tough choice to battle considering that the conspiracy-spirited-disaster-like challenges are throwing up on you and your team, as if you are inside the Big Brother house. All your moves are monitored, and so was your mind set.  It’s all in the matter of survival and outwitting the odds.

Though one thing is for sure though, is that the ending will make you crave for more. But you have to wait for that though, until the third part of the HG series will be shown at the large silver screen (and much wider if you are watching through high definition).

The verdict: 6.75
