Flick Review: Fast and Furious 6

11:14:50 PM | 6/17/2013 | Monday

All roads lead to this!

Dom’s crew is back, and they’re up for something good. Luke Hobbs, a diplomatic agent, hunted the main man Dominic Toretto and wanted him for a mission, and they will be cleared (I’m talking about pardon on their criminal records) in exchange.

That is to take down a group of skilled mercenary drivers which runs around London, Spain and other countries as well (they’re 12 in total). They have to beat Owen Shaw, even if Letty Ortiz is also parts of that supposedly big catch.

As the motion picture rolls, Dominic went on to investigate, got engaged on a long chased own race, and was totally surprised that his presumed dead-lover appeared after he caught her car on that long chase and fired a bullet on him.

Apparently, Letty suffered amnesia, and Arturo Braga, a drug lord imprisoned by the police officer back at the States, told everything on how Letty managed to survive (and how she managed to be "dead" in the eyes of the world) when Brian went to prison as a disguised prisoner.

And the chasing game continues from London all the way to Spain. In case you haven’t seen the movie, you’d better start chasing time to watch them, as I still won’t do the act of spoiling your ass.

Okay, you got the star studded cast as what Dom describes, “The best crew in the world standing in front of you.” And definitely, this movie has a good reason why you should stay glued in to the Fast and Furious franchise. As its seventh movie will be shown in the big screen sometime next year, and they will start filming everything by the summer time of the year in the U.S. of A. as well as on the other areas like Japan and in the Middle East.

I could almost have a bit feeling of disbelief when Han was killed. Only to found out that apparently, Han’s death scene was just a flashback device to the Tokyo Drift, and possibly a prelude to the next Fast and Furious picture… with Jason Statham joining the cast of characters in that post-credit scene.

It’s been a while since the last time I dig any of the Fast and Furious’ movies. The story may have the same concept of plots, but it’s just refreshing to notice the fact that the bad guys are running after the other in such a task that will regain themselves and freed from being a bunch of “at large fugitives.” Tanks are nothing new, so was playing road games at the freeway, but you have to love the hype that Fast 6 had brought by, especially the scene where Dom catches Letty in the middle of the air, in the middle of the bridge, and atop of the possible ravine.

It’s really a breath-taking one and all I can utter are the words “holy shit.” For me, it should be the most notable scene from that movie.

Stunt wise, effects, and plot-speaking they’re quite dope. Its edge over the action action-and- science fiction films at present is that some of its punch lines clicked in.

And like any other movies, it is really worthy to watch the Fast and The Furious 6 for a few times. I personally saw the movie twice, and maybe I could have done it for the third time.

On a deeper note, I found Fast 6 a family-oriented one. I mean, they all come by one, as in "one team." They do things as if they really knew each other well (well, it should not be surprising since they're already on their sixth flick). Dom takes the lead, so was Hobbs; they cooperated with each other despite the former's a fugitive, and the latter's a law enforcer. So it's not just plain teamwork there. It's also about trust too.

With Fast 6 so far being the best of the Fast and Furious movie installments, well… so are the expectations for the next year’s Fast 7, just what they planned a few years back when they are still filming this picture.

My verdict: 8.8 (score out of 10)

The Fast and the Furious 6 stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, and Luke Evans, with Jason Statham in a cameo appearance. Distributed by Universal Pictures and shown worldwide on May 24, 2013.
