And We Meet Again for the Fifth Time

5:15:39 PM | 5/12/2013 | Sunday

Looks like another classic match-up will about to have an epic finale.

For some time lately I have been following this rivalry: Ginebra versus Talk ‘N Text. It’s the crowd favourite versus a perennial dynasty crew. It’s like the People’s champ going up against a solid title contender. And all that will happen tonight at the Big Dome. Do or die match.

Talk ‘N Text in another sudden death contest, while Ginebra will attempt to win with its “never-say-die” spirit.

And it’s quite a long while since these two squads faced each other in a nerve-wracking, nail-biting finsh. I used to remember way back that one of those previous Ginebra and Talk ‘N Text’s clashes ended up in a winner-take-all Game 7. And just two years ago, they squared off in the fifth set of their semi-finals duel.

Questions are up in the air, and one of them is: which team will face the Gatas Republic named Alaska Aces? Yesterday, they managed to dethrone their rival, the San Mig Coffee. They just proved that Calvin Abueva is more than a beast and Denzel Bowles was not the same Denzel Bowles during his tenure with his team last year. If you can remember, Bowles was the main man in that Game 7 classic encounter versus the Tropang Texters.

Of course, the odd-makers picked Talk ‘N Text due to their solid local line-up. Plus an explosive import who can fire 37 points against an inferno atmosphere like that of Game 3 at the Big Dome. Though some of them  and the majority of the crowd will pick Ginebra due to their never say die spirit inflicted in their team, plus a bunch of high flyers in the rookie Slam Dunk Champ, and the so-called T-Mac Connection (L.A. Tenorio – Vernon Macklin’s eye in the sky plays) and include that run that saved them last time out.
One thing is for sure: this will be another blockbuster match in terms of ticket sales and TV ratings.

Considering that AKTV’s contract on IBC 13 will expire, which barely means that there might be switching channels soon on which network will carry the coverage of the PBA Games after the ongoing tournament.
Well, this is something to watch out for tonight!
